Banning the Anti-Christ

Tuesday, April 17th, 2007

I don’t know if folks have been tracking this story at all, but how in the world can you ban an “AntiChrist” coming into your country? Regardless, it’s newsworthy and I think it’s worth us covering in some way or another.
Here’s a quick take on it:
“GUATEMALA - Three Central American governments have banned a man claiming to be the Antichrist from entering their countries, outraged by his inflammatory preaching against the Catholic Church and [see entire entry...]

Mourning for Virgina Tech in SecondLife

Tuesday, April 17th, 2007

Second Life never ceases to amaze me. To mourn the Virginia Tech deaths people were mourning at 8pm yesterday on SL.

I did not attend, but I’m wondering if there was a religious component to it. I imagine there was and if it’s intriguing and inspiring how people create community and express religious faith using the technology available to them.

News21 Vlogs

Wednesday, April 4th, 2007

Hey all-
My name is Sam(antha) and I’m a video girl here at Berkeley.  I’m working with Erin Fitzgerald, another News21er, to make some weekly video postings from News21land.  Not sure exactly what we’re going to do, but we’re thinking of producing at least one little nugget each week that we can post on YouTube, and here on the blog, to let the world know what we’re working on and to get some responses from the [see entire entry...]

My Brother, the Christian

Wednesday, March 21st, 2007

Hi. I’m Jason. I’m not a Christian. Oh, I once was, but like most kids in the 80s I hit high school and went from faith to Faith No More.
My half-brother? Well, that’s a different story.
His name is Joseph. Can you get more Christian than that? Joey, as we like to call him, went the opposite route as me. As a kid [see entire entry...]

finding themes

Friday, March 9th, 2007

themes.wordpress.net is currently broken, no it’s not just us.
finding themes was difficult the only way i managed to do it was to click test run and take note of the id so you know which on you clicked. then send me the url like http://themes.wordpress.net/download.php?theme=1711 or http://themes.wordpress.net/testrun/?wptheme=1711 and I’ll install it.
some themes show up as thumbnails, very strange, hopefully will get fixed soon.

At the orphanage, clashing influences

Saturday, June 17th, 2006

Najlae Benmbarek, Djibouti
We woke up pretty early yesterday for our first visit to a local girl’s orphanage. Before heading there, we met at the chapel of the base. The chaplain, a tall, blonde, always smiling officer, was surrounded by a group of volunteers, among which were musicians of the Air Force Academy Band. We interviewed the chaplain in the bus and Aaron asked him if, in the frequent interactions they have with the locals, there’s [see entire entry...]
