Monday Night at the Megachurch

June 25th, 2007

The Church at Rock Creek is a twelve million dollar facility that sits on top of a hill 15 minutes West of Little Rock. We’re told it’s among the 100 fastest growing churches in the country. It’s a one-stop shop for families of faith: Starbucks coffee, a bookstore, baby gifts and charity options all line the tremendous corridor. A dozen security personnel roam the lobby, and the head of security told us that all big churches now need protection – celebrity pastors become targets, as does the collection money gathered at the end of each sermon.

The Monday evening worship service was a highly produced combination of music videos, live sermons, baptisms and a rock band from Dallas. It all ended with ushers handing out tall stacks of buckets for tithe collection – big money is needed for big churches.

beautiful pictures… I know what you mean about the church rock show! In Florida, the music was literally off of Christian Rock radio. \Well, soft rock, but rock nonetheless.

What’s next, Christian rap??? Keep your eyes peeled…..
