My Little Dog is Evil

Recently I saw an enlightening documentary about Jehovah’s Witnesses called Knocking. It was fascinating and inspirational.
Because of it, I’ve decided to stop talking in the general and get specific.
A very nice woman named Carmel came do my door this morning.
Yes, she is a Jehovah’s Witness but she does have a name. It’s not like I go around speaking in general terms about people of faith, so why would I do that with regards to Carmel? You know the drill…”Honey, who is THAT at the door?” My typical response, “Oh, you know, it’s one of those Jehovah’s Witnesses!” Now how is that right? So I’m changing my ways.
So in my earnest attempt to right my wrongs I open the door and introduce myself. Then the evil little dog intervenes…my dog Tsunami…not in a mean way but she wants some kisses from this poor woman. And you know, Tsunami is about a foot tall and it’s a long jump to smack someone on the lips, so she’s irritating. Carmel keeps saying how cute Tsunami is but all the exuberance chases Carmel off. She goes running out the gate…
And I’m thinking, “Wait, but lady, you don’t understand. I’m the new me! I’m taking this class on religion…!” I run upstairs, grab my camera, and chase the nice lady, Carmel, up the street.
“Um, m’am, I’m involved in this project on Faith in America and can I take your photo for my blog…” Well, she was cooperative but I think she thought I was crazy.
She left me a lovely leaflet. “Full Costume Bible Drama…a cast of over 25 characters…drama based on Colossians 3:12. Sunday, July 1st at the Cow Palace, San Francisco.”
Sounds good to me. Maybe if I go, God will forgive my evil little dog. I’m not sure there’s any hope for me.

She never stood a chance against Carmel. This is a great story! I live in apartment building, so I miss evangelists knocking on my door.

LOL. Last time I talked to a Jehovah’s witness, I was 10 years old and living with my parents in Westchester, New York. They had pamphlets about a land in China where people could co-exist with wild pandas. It sounded awesome, but my mom didn’t like the idea.
