Building a Living on Belief

Mara Vanderslice has given a lot of thought to the role of belief in public life—it's what she does for a living. As the founder of Common Good Strategies, a consulting firm based in Alexandria, VA, Vanderslice works with Democratic political candidates to help them reach out to religious voters. Here she discusses some of the particulars of her work—and its potential to impact the country.

The Latest

Students from Medill School at Northwestern University spent eight months examining the connection between belief and public life in the United States, a pursuit that carried them everywhere from tattoo parlors to much more traditional venues and yielded an abundance of revealing stories.
